SonnyJim: Why the color purple?
Jared King: "Purple is the rarest color in nature and since this song is about believing you are rare. It was only fitting to correlate the color purple with the first single"
SJ: What is your fashion philosophy?
JK: I Just try and wear what looks good on me. I see people who dress abstract and of course do what you enjoy, but sometimes I see people walk past me in the simplest clothes and It makes me turn my head, so its most important to me to wear what looks best even if its simple"
SJ: Theres a heavy Punk/Alt Rock influence on this song specifically with the use of guitars. Where does this derive from?
JK: " The heavy use of guitars on the project really just comes from me wanting to be in a band. I always felt Hip Hop had limitations when performing live at a house show or an intimate setting, but I guess with these songs my hope was I could perform them with a band and not loose too much of the initial recording"
SJ: Do you prefer creating alone, or through collaboration?
JK: "I start almost all my songs alone on one instrument, but if extra hands are available in the production process I will gladly utilize them because I think music always turns out more interesting that way."
SJ: Is this song about anyone specific?
JK: "It's hard to balance messages and themes within songs because sometimes you want to be accurate when conveying something of importance, but other times (including this single copycats) it's fun to be proactive or meerly just contemplate ideas out loud that exist in your head.
SJ: "Why is copycats the leading single for this project?"
JK: "Funny enough it was accidental. I wanted to drop back in spring, but the project kept growing and the single I had in mind to be released first wasn't ready in time and fit a sunnier season. So given we are in January now. I was itching to put something out. and I felt Copycats could be released on a cloudy or sunny day, So I guess here we are."
